Well I can’t avoid it any longer, I miss scrapbooking. Blogging and picture posting on facebook and instagram took over my scrapping process of memory-keeping, but these pictures are in jpegs and html formats — no way to view it sans électricité. The value of having a physical album dawned on me when I saw my eldest son Raf browsing a couple of heavy scrapbooks and photo albums I had brought over from Manila. I was upset at first because the albums were scattered on the table (and some in the bathroom — oh, tell me why?) and were not returned to where they’re supposed to be (you teach your children to put things back in their proper places). But had it not been for that, I wouldn’t realize how important it is for them to have something tangible to look at. They actually enjoy flipping through pages, looking at physical photos, reading the stories and captions, and reminiscing events. Raf said it was like he had gone back in time. At that moment, I knew that I had to do something… I could at least print photos and put them in an album (which was what I did for a couple of years) or better yet, go back to scrapbooking. Fortunately this blog helps me remember the stories and make scrapbooking easier. I’ve started 2013 and have a few layouts ready for printing. The question is if I can sustain it… 🙂
