When I came home Thursday afternoon from Makati, Marco greeted me at the door showing me his wound. It was a tiny wound, no blood, about the size of a black ant.

But by evening, Riel noticed that Marco was limping and clearly had trouble walking. We found out that that afternoon Marco was playing in the garden, jumping around, and unfortunately stepped on something sharp that pierced through his Crocs into his sole. My my my. We were concerned that it could be tetanus. Our garden is full of construction debris (our house being renovated) and rusted nails abound.
So the following morning, I brought him to the ER.

Back in trauma room. Incidentally, we were in the same room where he was four years ago when he fell from the second floor window at age two. (But that’s another story).
Actually, his records showed he had tetanus shots, five in all, to be exact. And his recent one was three years ago, which is effective for five years.

KQOTD. Me: (teaching Raf) A compound word is a word made up of two single words joined together to form a new word, like rainbow, rain + bow. Or basketball, basket + ball. What else? Can you think of an example? Raf: Bedroom, bed + room. Me: Very good! Marco (listening to us): Mommy, freedom is a compound word, right? Me: Na-ah. It’s not. Marco: Yes it is. Freedom: free and dumb!
