Bonjour!

Greetings from Montreal!

[in downtown Montreal]

I’ve been meaning to post photos since Day 1 here but jet lag and exhaustion overruled me.  Things were not as pleasant as it should be as we were greeted by a series of unfortunate events.  Firstly, the immigration didn’t accept the address that we put in our application (we put a business address, they require a residential address in Canada) so they marked our document as incomplete.  Second, the kids luggage is missing.  For some reason, Air Canada tagged DH’s luggage twice and failed to put one on the kids’.  Fortunately, I insisted on an extra set of clothes to be put on the kids’ backpack which they carry with them.  DH kidded me that deep in my heart, I would have wished that is was my luggage that got lost, a valid excuse for a new set of wardrobe!  Third, of all places, Gabby had an upset tummy at the airport! He needed to sit down 7x at the airport (while waiting for our connecting flight).  Just imagine how it was during the flight!  How brutal can that be?  Fourth, our toilet at the hotel broke and it overflowed to the bedroom carpet… ewww, ewww, ewww!  Yep, all these things happened in the first 24 hours.

Here in Montreal, the weather is very cool, about zero to five degrees.  It rained and it snowed.  It was the first time that we saw snow fall.  The kids were ecstatic while I freeze like hell.

[Snow greeted us in the morning… Brrrr]

Perhaps the highlight of this trip is our visit to the city of Quebec.  I found a good jacket and pants for the kids.  It was a bit pricey but it kept the kids warm and allowed them to enjoy the outdoors.  We took the train to Quebec, about three hours from Montreal.  We left at dawn but it wasn’t a problem for the kids because of the jet lag.  They were up at 2am and on the streets at 6am going to the train station.

[portable video games, a temporary cure for kids boredom]

Quebec City is very charming.  I love it because of its European flavor.

[Quebec is 99.9% Catholic and they have plenty of churches]

Below are photos of the boys walking around Quebec City.  They look like Ewoks from StarWars.

Uncle Eric, DH’s friend, a Quebec local and our tour guide, showed the kids how to make snowballs.

More photos coming.  I see that the sun is out, hopefully no snow or rain shower today.

TFL (thanks for looking).
