A slideshow of old family photos prepared especially for Lola Ting’s 90th birthday celebration in 2008. While she already had Alzheimer’s disease back then, she remained jovial and was never cranky. She had a great time viewing the slideshow, recognizing herself and the people in it. I am glad that I was able to spend time with her during my 2011 visit in the Philippines. Lola Ting is the sister of Mamang, my paternal grandmother who died at age 72. Lola Ting was my dad’s aunt who stayed single until the age of 81. She then married her brother-in-law, my Papang, who is my paternal grandfather and the husband of Mamang. Papang was 80 years old then. Their marriage, however, was cut short as Papang died of heart attack seven days after their wedding. *sigh*
